Mike’s Background

A Tahlequah native, Mike Osburn graduated magna cum laude from Oklahoma Christian University with a bachelor’s degree in history and political science. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1993, having received the Professional Responsibility Award for exemplifying professional responsibility and ethics.

Public Service Experience

Mike began his career with Oklahoma governor Frank Keating, first as campaign manager and then as deputy chief of staff in 1995, where he managed the staff and served as a political and policy advisor. Later, Mike became state director for U.S. Senator Don Nickles, serving four years. In 2005, Mike was named state director for Americans for Prosperity, Oklahoma, a grassroots economic public policy organization.

Mike’s Family

Mike and his wife, Holly, met on campus at Oklahoma Christian University. Holly, better known to her students as Dr. Osburn, serves as Professor of Management and Director of Leadership Studies at the University of Central Oklahoma. Mike and Holly have three children, all attending Will Rogers Elementary School. The Osburns are active members of their church, The Springs Church of Christ.

Private Sector Success

In addition to his extensive public service experience, Mike has worked in the private sector, as well. He served as the president's chief of staff at Oklahoma Christian University, where he oversaw and directed the development, public relations, and alumni relations departments. He changed roles at the university in 1999, becoming the executive director of Enterprise Square USA. In 2006, he struck out on his own, forming a consulting firm specializing in public affairs and association management, later adding a full-service event management franchise to the firm, serving both for-profit and non-profit organizations.
